Do you need to get law enforcement training prior to applying for jobs?
I’m very interested in joining some form of law enforcement, or becoming a special agent for NCIS someday. What are the requirements? What kind of degree do I need in college, and is there any form of special training I need to take prior to applying for that kind of job?
I know different law enforcement jobs have different requirements but if someone could give me a general outline I’d greatly appreciate it.
States vary. Some states require a 4 yr degree and some only a high school diploma or GED.
This too depends on employment with local, state or federal agencies.
I would suggest getting your degree and going federal. Meanwhile, you could take a police academy class while in college and already begin working in law enforcement until you have the degree.
It never hurts to already be P.O.S.T certified.
